Pabst Blue Ribbon
Backs Winged World Series
Track Report
MADERA,
Calif. (Feb. 27, 2013) - Pabst
Blue Ribbon signed on as title
sponsor of the new Winged World
Series based at the LoanMart
Madera Speedway. The new series
will be named the Pabst Blue
Ribbon Winged World Series and
features Winged Sprint cars
racing against the Super
Modifieds.
“We are very excited to have
Pabst Blue Ribbon on board for
the first year of this new
series, our vision is big for
this series and to have the
support of a major brand like
Pabst Blue Ribbon is a great
start” Kenny Shepherd.
The first race of the new series
is March 23; there are a total
of six races in the series at
the LoanMart Madera Speedway in
2013, March 23, May 4, June 8,
July 13, August 10 and September
14. All events will include
non-winged midget and non-winged
spec sprint races. The September
14 event also features a
multi-engine tractor pull, and
an appearance by BIGFOOT the
world famous monster truck.
Shepherd adds “ the idea for
this series is something we have
discussed for some time now,
make the rules simple,
competition close, the winged
action great for the fans, and
the payout big for the teams. We
have been working close with
several key engine builders and
the idea is to make sure the
410, or 360 engine can be
competitive in either a sprint
car or a super.”
Plans for the series starting in
2014 include a five-six race
series of events at the LoanMart
Madera Speedway, with a select
group of traveling events at
other tracks to make up a nine
race championship series. There
is talk about a North/South
Shootout two race event
(Pavement Civil War) featuring
the best of the Southwestern
States, against the best of the
Northwestern States as part of
the series. The Pabst Blue
Ribbon Winged World Series could
even include a division of
winged midgets in the traveling
shows for 2014.
